Prosci's Train-the-Trainer program
|
“Companies around the world are building competency in change
management to become more flexible in today’s marketplace. Prosci’s
Train-the-Trainer program gives you the ability to provide these courses
internally - and for a lower cost to your organization.” ~ Jeff Hiatt
President and CEO, Prosci Inc.
|
How would you answer these questions?
- Is your organization facing a higher velocity of change?
(bigger
changes, happening more frequently and more important to your
organization's success)
- Does your organization have gaps in change management
competencies?
- Would you like to be in position to help build your
organization’s change management capabilities?
Prosci’s Train-the-Trainer (TTT) program was developed and refined over the last year to
position you to be successful delivering Prosci change management
training in your organization. The goal of the TTT program is to enable you to
facilitate
an experience that transforms how someone sees themselves when it comes
to managing the people side of change.
|
“Extremely well constructed, well designed,
organized and delivered program. I have been through
many TTT courses in my career; this one surpassed
them all.”
~ Lynn Nelson |
Who is the program designed for:
Prosci's TTT program is designed for employees in organizations who
want to teach internal change management training programs. Qualified individuals
should have experience working on change initiatives and supporting the people side of
change. Experience delivering training
or comfort with public speaking is essential. Completion of Prosci's
3-day certification program is a pre-requisite for the program.
“I had the honor of attending the inaugural TTT
session in 2009. The new training facility at
Prosci’s corporate office offers so much more than
start-of-the-art technology to enhance learning. The
setting is intimate: you get to know, interact with,
and be supported by the other participants. And the
opportunity to work closely with a Master Instructor
is incredibly valuable, and not just from a
'textbook' perspective: they offer well-earned
lessons learned about the nuances of teaching and
learning you could not possibly get anywhere else."
~ Karl Hunrick, Prosci Certified Instructor |
Goals of Prosci's TTT program:
- Goal 1: To equip you to be a skilled instructor and facilitator
of Prosci’s change management courses
- Goal 2: To transfer the course outcomes into your hands such
that you can create a transformational
experience for your students
- Goal 3: To ground you in Prosci’s philosophy and principles to
enable effective decision making and a
solid platform for dealing
with unique situations

Which classes can you teach after completing the TTT program:
- Prosci's 3-day program for change management
practitioners and project team members*
(to convey Prosci certification, you will need to complete
additional requirements to become a Prosci Certified Instructor)
- Prosci's 1-day coaching program for managers and supervisors
- Prosci's 4 to 6-hour sponsor program for executives and senior
leaders
- Prosci's 1-day primer for front-line employees
“The program is very comprehensive, not only to
reinforce our knowledge gained in the 3-day
certification course, I am now understanding the
behind the scene concepts of the training material,
flow and content.”
~ Machi Simon, Joy Mining Machinery |
Structure of the program:
Prosci's Train-the-Trainer program lasts three and a half days and is
delivered at Prosci's headquarters in Loveland, Colorado. The program
can also be delivered onsite for groups from a particular
organization. The course size is limited to five participants so there
is plenty of one-on-one support and opportunities to practice your
deliveries. Over the course of the three and a half days, you learn
from Prosci's Master Instructors and experienced Training Managers who
bring hundreds of class experiences to the table.
Topics in the three and a half days:
|
Philosophy and principles |
Prosci training aims at creating experiences, not
teaching materials.
Learn about the underpinning of Prosci's change management
training experiences, founded on adult learning theory and years
of experience facilitating these programs. See how the course
design drives better results and forms the foundation for
"experiential learning". |
|
Success factors |
After years of teaching change management, we've
identified certain factors must be present for a successful
class. Learn about the five key program success factors:
Effective sponsorship, Administrative contact, Project and
workgroup definitions, Managing expectations and
Environment. Cover several additional considerations including
the class assistant and establishing a personal connection. |
|
Preparing for a course |
"By failing to prepare, you prepare to fail." ~
Benjamin Franklin
Learn about numerous aspects of course preparation, for
both you as a facilitator and for your students. Facilitator
preparation topics include: student and class structure,
logistics and materials, venue selection, room set-up, and personal
calls. Student preparation topics include: pre-work, reading
assignments, project summaries and assessments, and Change
Management Pilot Pro 2010 access. |
| The
big picture |
The experience is longer lasting if you remember the
"big picture".
Learn how to maintain the "big picture" for your
students and how it is reinforced throughout the training
programs. Hear the allegory of the pilot and the sailor. |
| Story
telling |
Story telling is a critical component of creating a
lasting experience in a change management training session.
Learn the keys to effective story telling and prepare one of
your own stories to use in the class. |
|
Transitions and activities |
Activities and transitions are just as important as
the core content.
Learn how to create "emotional memories" during the course of
the training program and how to use activities and transitions
to solidify learning. |
|
Facilitator challenges |
These programs aren't always easy to deliver, but here
are some key challenges to think about. Learn some of
the most common facilitator challenges and how you can address
them, including time management, staying up-beat, incomplete
projects, difficult questions and difficult students. |
|
Course facilitation |
The remainder of the three and a half day program is spent
covering course facilitation. The training programs are
broken down into "bundles" based on specific learning objectives
and bytes of knowledge. Each "bundle" includes the following
information in the facilitator's guide:
- Thumbnails of slides from the training deck for that
"bundle"
- Key messages
- Timing (when during the program)
- Activities and exercises
- Handouts and materials
- Research data
- Common mistakes
Throughout the course facilitation work, each TTT participant
practices delivering numerous modules, highlighting the key
messages and practicing transitions and story telling along the
way.
The majority of time spent in course facilitation focuses on
the 3-day certification program, as the concepts and
perspectives here also form the foundation for the other
training programs. |
Materials provided in the TTT program:
- Train-the-Trainer facilitator guide (not for purchase, only
available through the TTT program)
- Overview and background material
- Explanations of each concept "bundle" from the training programs
- Train-the-Trainer "placemat"
- Showing how the 1-day manager and supervisor programs build off
of the key concepts in the 3-day program
- Full set of 3-day certification materials
|
“The TTT program allows organizations to expand
their internal change management capabilities to
meet the increasing volume and velocity of change.”
~ Phil Eastman, Prosci TTT instructor |
