Change management tutorials: Best of 2006

To end the year, Prosci and the Change Management Learning Center have released a collection of the best tutorials of 2006. Below are links and descriptions of six of the most popular tutorials of the year, along with links for further reading. All links below open in new browser windows.

 

Why change management? This tutorial, released toward the end of the year, answers the question "why do we need to manage change?" The tutorial provides a list of the benefits from managing change and the consequences of not managing change. Readers contributed their own ideas and feedback to complete the lists.

Roles in managing change Another selection from the "back to basics" series, the "Roles in managing change" tutorial examined why you could be risking project failure if you are trying to manage change alone. This tutorial looks at the important roles that managers, supervisors, project teams and executives play in making change successful.

Prosci Change Triangle defined The Prosci Change Triangle is a new framework for thinking about the critical components of successful projects and initiatives - leadership, project management and change management. This tutorial defines the three components and sets the stage for future assessments and analysis.

Communication checklist During the year, Prosci released a series of one-page checklists for change practitioners. This tutorial is the Prosci Communication Checklist, featuring 10 important things to remember when you are communicating change in an organization.

Change management quick reference glossary This tutorial provides definitions for many commonly used terms in change management. It was the first in a series of "back to basics" tutorials that provided new practitioners with a solid foundation and experienced practitioners with tools they could use with others in the organization.
Dispelling change management myths The change management myths series was released early in 2006. In the series, we looked at four major myths about managing change and provided strategies for dispelling and answering the myths.
